Not much of a first post. All my stuff will be moved into storage on Thursday, and thus I will be living out of a suitcase or two for the next four months. Between packing and moving and working, I am devouring books on the American experience in Paris. As an English major, I am already pretty aware of many an American writer's famous exploits over there, but I realized that I actually have read little of their work that takes place in the city or talks about what they did. I am about to finish Henry James' The Ambassadors, am working my way through Adam Gopnik's anthology Americans in Paris, and have plans to start on Hemingway's A Moveable Feast and Henry Miller's Quiet Days in Clichy. Let's hear it for long plane rides!
I'm sure I will have another post or two before I actually depart. Until then, adieu.
